The programme was supported by the Live Art Development Agency, Kunstraum and Arts Council England.      

F U T U R E R I T U A L is a performance and research project considering the place, use and function of ritual within contemporary performance and queer cultures. the project positions ritual as a technology, asking how artists might use ritual technology and to what ends.

Film night 

Tues 24 Sept | Live Art Development Agency | 7pm to 9pm

This evening featureed a screening of short films and performance documentation by artists working around ritual, performance and futurity. Featured works include documentation of Sanctuary Ring (2016), by Martin O’Brien and Sheree Rose, and a selection of videos by Nwando Ebizie and Jon John.

 

Following the screenings, F U T U R E R I T U A L lead artist Joseph Morgan Schofield hosted a discussion with Nwando Ebizie and Martin O'Brien.

Charlie Ashwell | Kelvin Atmadibrata | Sandra Stanionyte 

Thurs 26 Sept | Kunstraum | 7pm to 10.30pm

An evening of performances by three artists - Charlie Ashwell, Kelvin Atmadibrata and Sandra Stanionyte - who were invited to present works responding to the notion of a future ritual.

Sat 28 Sept | Kunstraum | 1pm to late

Leman Daricioğlu, Radage ▽ Hardaker,  Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley and Augusto Cascales presented works responding to the notion of a future ritual.

Daricioğlu's work was a four hour durational performance. The works by Radage ▽ Hardaker, Brathwaite-Shirley and Cascales followed later in the evening.
